Mongolia Charity Rally 2012 team: The Improbables will depart towards Ulan Bator on June 9th, 2012
London, United Kingdom – Feb 03, 2012 – The Improbables, the only Mongolia Charity Rally 2012 team to depart from Madrid and also the only team to depart one month ahead of schedule is currently preparing their land voyage of 14,000 kms from Spain’s capital to the capital of Mongolia. They are currently busy acquiring and looking for sponsors, be it in equipment or in cash.
The Improbables are composed of three individuals, who are as unlikely to know each other as they are to go on a grand scale road trip, as is the MCR. However, they have been united in their search for adventure, while at the same time raising funds for charity.
The first member of the team is Dhruv Boruah. Dhruv is from India, from a small town located in the foothills of the Himalayas near the Brahmaputra. Trained as an engineer and with a MBA specialized in Digital Business from one of Spain’s leading business schools, he is currently located in London. While free-lancing in e-commerce projects and also working as a consultant for a London based company, what Dhruv lacks in height he makes up in enthusiasm. His dancing skills are capable of stirring up simultaneously horror and awe. He is the team’s not so secret secret weapon.
The second member is Jonathan Buffard, an Italian-French man who was raised in Key West, Florida. Along with Dhruv, he is the team’s digital marketing expert. Currently working in the Digital Marketing department of Accion Contra el Hambre, Madrid(an NGO which combats world hunger), at the moment he doesn’t have a driving license. Hopefully, the authorities won’t notice. Just in case we are planning “police escapes” as we speak.
The final member is Estevam de Sá da Bandeira from Portugal. The least techy of the three, shunning computers as vampires shun the sun; Dhruv and Jonathan have been debating what he could be used for. Besides being able to rake in some sponsors and private donations, along with his love for writing (which does not imply skill), he has been baptized “Chief Driver”. It is widely rumored that this is a plot between Dhruv and Jonathan so he’ll have to pay for the majority of the traffic tickets.
What makes this team unique is not only their diverse background, how improbable is it for an Indian, an Italian, and a Portuguese to join forces and take a still undisclosed vehicle from Spain to Mongolia? Furthermore they will donate the vehicle to an NGO, while having already raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Along the way, they will capture their rally participation in video and photograph, having already secured an exposition site at the National Geographic Store in Madrid, where they will showcase their experience.
